Four Years Later: 5 Great 3DS Games

Even though Nintendo has been focusing on the New 3DS and Super Smash Bros. lately, it's hard to believe that the original 3DS came out back in 2011. Now that the handheld has been out for four years, it's obvious that the console has one of the best handheld libraries in history. Here's a quick look at some of the best games that you can play on the Nintendo 3DS.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Although the Fire Emblem series has been around in Japan since the early 90s, it never got really popular in America until Super Smash Bros. Melee included two of the franchise's main characters: Marth and Roy. Luckily, Nintendo brought over Awakening so American 3DS owners can enjoy the strategic role playing action that fans have come to expect from the series.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time so it's easy to see why the 3DS remake is one of the best games on the system. The 3DS version includes the whole epic N64 adventure with upgraded graphics and a very helpful touchscreen -- the Water Temple is a lot easier in this version.

Mario Golf: World Tour

Did anyone else play a ton of Mario Golf for the Game Boy Color and N64? Mario Golf for the 3DS provides gamers with a fun challenge that's spread across a number of different modes and features, including some pretty cool uses of 3D.

Pokémon: X and Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

If you're looking for a Pokémon fix, look no further than the 3DS. As of now, you can play an all new adventure in X and Y where you travel across a brand new region with all-new monsters or you could try out remakes of the classic Ruby and Sapphire games in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In order to catch 'em all in this game, you better be ready to capture over 700 different creatures.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Arguably the best game for the system, Super Smash for the 3DS brings all of the over-the-top action of the series to a portable console for the first time. Boasting special connectivity with the Wii U version of the game, you can literally go from playing the game on the go to playing it on the big screen. With over 53 characters available, the newest release in the series is one of the best.
